Chronicler of Kings Terms of Use

1. The agreement

Chronicler of Kings is a free desktop companion app to Paradox Interactive's Crusader Kings III, and developed by LoreWind Studios. By installing or using it you accept these terms. If you sign in with a LoreWind account, the LoreWind Terms of Service also apply to anything you send to LoreWind or receive from LoreWind, including text and audio. LoreWind does not read or store your private conversations without permission, with one exception: flagged text that may contain a violation of its terms of service.

We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to install and use the app for your own play. The app is closed source; you may not copy, resell, or reverse engineer it.

2. Who may use Chronicler of Kings

Chronicler of Kings is for adults: you must be 18 or older to use it. That is about you, the ruler or adventurer, not what every story contains; plenty of the stories it tells would sit comfortably on any bookshelf.

3. Absolutely prohibited: content that sexualizes a minor, or depicts one in a sexual act

Content that sexualizes a minor, or depicts one in a sexual act, is expressly prohibited in any shape or form. This covers every kind of depiction without exception: real, fictional, animated, role-played, "aged up", or framed as anything else, involving any character who is a minor or is presented as one. It applies to every part of the app: conversations, scenes, characters, chronicles, images, voices, and anything the storyteller writes or displays. Depiction is the line this app enforces: description of a sexual act involving anyone under eighteen may never appear on the page, and demanding that it be written is itself a violation, whatever a fictional world's own customs, laws, or ages of majority say. A chaste kiss, nervousness, a racing heart, or anything else that would be allowed in a traditional coming-of-age story is not considered a depiction of a sexual act.

The storyteller is instructed to refuse such content: it will balk at the scene instead of writing it, and the app will tell you why. When you are signed in with LoreWind, your requests also pass LoreWind's automated screening, and repeated attempts to elicit such content after warnings can freeze your LoreWind account as the LoreWind Terms of Service describe; where the law requires it, LoreWind reports violations to the appropriate authorities. When you connect your own provider key instead, the refusal comes from the storyteller model itself, and your provider's own terms and enforcement apply to every request you send.

4. Other prohibited uses

You may not use the app to sexualize a real, identifiable person without their consent; to harass, threaten, or defraud anyone; or to create content that is illegal where you live. You may not attempt to break, overload, or reverse engineer the app or any service it connects to.

5. Your provider, your responsibility

Chronicler of Kings does not build or train AI models. The storytellers are AI models reached through the connection you choose. With a LoreWind account, your requests go to LoreWind and are covered by its terms. With your own provider key, your requests go directly from your machine to that provider under its terms of service and acceptable-use policies, and a request this app permits may still be declined by the model that serves it.

6. Your data stays on your machine

The app reads your game's log files and saves its conversations, settings, and chronicles locally on your computer. It sends your requests to the storyteller connection you configured and nowhere else. There is no analytics, telemetry, or account requirement beyond what you choose to connect.

7. The game is not ours

Crusader Kings III and its expansions belong to Paradox Interactive. Chronicler of Kings is an independent companion app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Paradox Interactive. Your use of the game is governed by its own terms.

8. No warranty

The app is provided as is, free of charge, without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent the law allows, LoreWind Studios is not liable for any damages arising from its use. AI-written text is fiction generated by a machine; judge it accordingly.

9. Changes

We may revise these terms as the app grows. When the rules that gate entry change, the app will show the attestation screen again before your next session. Continued use after a revision is acceptance of it.

Chronicler of Kings is in early access. These terms are a draft pending legal review and will be finalized before wide release.
