Chronicler of Kings Terms of Use

1. The agreement

Chronicler of Kings is a free desktop companion app for Paradox Interactive's Crusader Kings III, developed by LoreWind Studios. By installing or using it you accept these terms. If you sign in with a LoreWind account, the LoreWind Terms of Service also apply to anything you send to LoreWind or receive from LoreWind, including text and audio. LoreWind does not routinely read your private conversations. When its automated checks flag a request, LoreWind keeps a record of that flag. Its staff review flags with the text hidden, and reveal the stored text only with your permission and a recorded reason, unless review or disclosure is required by law, as the LoreWind Terms of Service describe. When you use your own provider key, what the model writes is governed by that provider's terms. We do not run automated moderation on your own provider requests, in order to keep the app free and accessible to non-LoreWind users. This also means that you are entirely responsible for what you generate, and to the full extent allowed by the law, LoreWind Studios LLC cannot be held accountable for it.

We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to install and use the app for your own play. The app is closed source; you may not copy, resell, or reverse engineer it.

2. Who may use Chronicler of Kings

You must be at least 18 to use Chronicler of Kings.

3. Absolutely prohibited: content that sexualizes a minor, or depicts one in a sexual act

Content that sexualizes a minor, as defined below, or depicts a minor in a sexual act, is prohibited throughout Chronicler of Kings, including conversations, scenes, characters, chronicles, images, voices, and anything the game master writes or displays.

This applies to fictional characters as well as real people. A world's customs or age of majority do not change this boundary, and calling a character who is physically portrayed as a child "eighteen or older" does not exempt them from this rule. To depict a sexual act means to show it, or to describe what the people involved physically do during it, in any medium; stating that it happened, without showing or describing it, is acknowledging a fact, as explained below.

A minor is anyone under eighteen. A character's age is determined by whichever is younger: the years they have lived or the age of their current body, assessed outside the fiction in normal human terms. A thousand-year-old being whose body looks ten is protected as a child, as is a child transformed into an adult body who retains the mental development of a child. The only exceptions are beings created directly as adults, without ever having been children, and fictional beings that develop into adulthood at a different rate from humans. In either case, they must have reached both physical and mental development equivalent to adulthood, assessed outside the fiction in normal human terms. For example, a clone or alien that develops at twice the human rate may qualify as an adult despite having lived fewer than eighteen years, provided they have reached physical and mental development equivalent to that of a normal human aged eighteen or older, accounting for their species' rate of development.

A story may acknowledge a sexual fact, pregnancy, sexual abuse, crimes, threats, betrothals, or marriage customs as a fact of the world and its setting, or of a character's experience, including when a character involved is or was a minor. These facts must remain non-graphic and non-sexualized. For example, a medieval setting may set the age of majority at sixteen, and its nobility may betroth and marry young; your story is not forbidden from acknowledging such a fact, as is common in historical and fantasy fiction. A sacked city can result in war crimes committed against minors. A story may name what happened directly; it does not have to disguise its severity, add a moral judgment, or deny its existence. A sexual act involving a minor must never be depicted. The game master is instructed never to narrate such a scene, to treat it as the fact it is if it comes up, and to keep it entirely off the page. A request to describe such a scene graphically or in a sexualized manner is prohibited, and is handled as described below. Ordinary non-sexual romance, compliments, marriages, or discussions of them are not prohibited merely because they involve a young character. The context and treatment of the subject determine whether it is permitted as reasonable fictional storytelling. The politics and awkwardness of a betrothal, a first love or crush, or a hard fact stated plainly is reasonable fiction; using your story as an excuse to treat it as a dating simulator for roleplaying a grown adult who dates a minor, content written to linger sexually on a minor's body, or content written to make them an object of sexual desire to the reader, is not.

Explicit or eroticized sexual descriptions involving a minor, as defined above, are prohibited, whether they appear in narration, dialogue, thoughts, fantasies, recollections, statements about what might happen, audio, images, or anything else. This rule is purely additive and exists in addition to the fact that a minor may not be depicted in a sexual act.

The game master is instructed to refuse content that this section prohibits, and the app shows you the reason for the refusal. This instruction is built into the app. It is not part of the prompt text you can edit, and it cannot be removed or changed through the app's settings, even when you use your own provider key. This is separate from LoreWind's automated checks, which apply when LoreWind is your game master connection. LoreWind blocks a request it detects as falling into this category and tells you why. Detection is automated and no automated system is perfect. A single block does not restrict your LoreWind account by itself. Depending on the confidence of LoreWind's automated assessment of a request, a block may result in a retained flag record, holding the flagged request. That flag counts only toward the repeated-attempt thresholds and any later consented review of whether a flag was a mistake or genuine. Repeated attempts to elicit such content after you have been warned are a violation and can freeze your LoreWind account, as the LoreWind Terms of Service describe. Where the law requires it, LoreWind reports violations, such as those involving real minors, to the appropriate authorities. When you use your own provider key instead, the refusal comes from the game master model itself, and your provider's own terms and enforcement apply to every request you send.

4. General rules

• Content whose primary purpose is pornography or sexual gratification rather than genuine narrative development is forbidden, and story context may not be used as a pretext for it.
• Sexual scenes between consenting adult characters may be part of a story, within these terms. When you use LoreWind as your game master connection, they are available only with Allow NSFW content turned on for your LoreWind account. A non-consensual act between adults may be acknowledged as a fact of the story but not depicted.
• Content that sexualizes a real, identifiable person who is living, or who died less than one hundred years ago, without their consent, is forbidden.
• A story must never invent a sexual fact about a real person who is living or who died less than one hundred years ago, at any age in their life, without their express consent.
• Chronicler of Kings permits clearly fictional portrayals of historical people who died at least one hundred years ago, including romantic relationships, under the same rules as any fictional character. Invented dialogue, relationships, and events must be presented as fiction, not as verified facts about their lives, and the protections in section 3 for anyone portrayed under the age of eighteen apply in full.
• Content that threatens, targets, or incites violence against a real, identifiable, living person, or that promotes hatred of real groups because of their race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability, is forbidden. Any image depiction of violence against a real person that may cause distress to that person or to others is also forbidden. This is not meant to prevent you from having legitimate violence, prejudice, or world building in your story; keep it in the story. If you are not clearly intending to incite violence against real groups, acting maliciously against a real person, or using real people in your images, you will not be in violation of this rule.
• Using the app to harass, threaten, or defraud anyone is forbidden.
• Using the app to create content that is illegal where you live is forbidden.
• Attempting to break, overload, or reverse engineer the app or any service it connects to is forbidden.

5. Your provider, your responsibility

Chronicler of Kings does not build or train AI models. The game master is an AI model reached through the connection you choose. With a LoreWind account as that connection, your requests go to LoreWind and are covered by its terms. With your own provider key, your requests go directly from your machine to that provider under its terms of service and acceptable-use policies, and a request this app permits may still be declined by the model that serves it.

6. Your data and the services you use

The app reads your game's log files and keeps its conversations, settings, and chronicles on your computer. It sends a request only where a feature you use needs it: the game master's requests go to the connection you chose for the game master, spoken lines go to the voice service you chose, and a bug report, with anything you attach to it, goes to LoreWind Studios only when you send one. There is no analytics or telemetry, and no account requirement beyond what you choose to connect.

7. The game is not ours

Crusader Kings III and its expansions belong to Paradox Interactive. Chronicler of Kings is an independent companion app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Paradox Interactive. Your use of the game is governed by its own terms.

8. No warranty

The app is provided as is, free of charge, without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent the law allows, LoreWind Studios LLC is not liable for any damages arising from its use. AI-written text is fiction generated by a machine; judge it accordingly.

9. Changes

We may revise these terms as the app grows. When the rules that gate entry change, the app will show the attestation screen again before your next session. Continued use after a revision is acceptance of it.

Chronicler of Kings is in early access. These terms are a draft pending legal review and will be finalized before wide release.
